FABULOUS FELTED and NUNO-FELTED HATS
featuring Dawn Edwards
Saturday November 11 and Sunday November 12, 2023, 10am to 4:30pm
Enjoy a fun weekend workshop! No weaving experience required.
— Only 1 seat remaining in this Workshop —
Create and embellish one (and possibly two) beautiful hats with felt artist Dawn Edwards, just in
time for cold weather! Dawn loves making hats, and likes to think of them as wearable
works of art. During this 2-day workshop, there will be ample time for experimentation
and inspiration using wet-felting techniques; that is, using just your hands, imagination,
and a little soap and water.

If you miss this chance to make felted hats with Dawn Edwards, please consider taking a different 3-D felting workshop with her, to be held on Thursday & Friday, November 9 and 10, at the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA). They will be making amazing Woodsy Vessels.

Tapestry Study Group Goes to SEFAA
On Tuesday, May 10th, The CHG Tapestry Study Group met in person for the first time since the pandemic began. The Group travelled to the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA) Center in Chamblee, GA to view the Square Foot Fiber Art Pin Up Show 2022 and to share recent tapestry projects in person.
We’re back in person!
Our May meeting was held in our newly renovated Room 1. It has been more than 2 years since we came together in one place. So great to see everyone. We are working on ways to learn from our online experiences and still make it possible for us to engage in a proper show-and-tell with the weaver's handshake. Phase 1 of the room is just about complete. Phase 2 will include more extensive digital presentation and hybrid experience equipment. Stay tuned and see you at our June meeting.
Terri Bryson Tapestry in Touring Exhibit
CHG Member, Terri Bryson is featured in an international online tapestry exhibit. The "New Directions" exhibit is an invitation-only, online exhibit organized by Lindsey Marshall and Jane Freer-Wyld in the UK. The tapestries in the exhibit are small format (10" x 10" or less). See the complete exhibit here. Congratulations Terri!
Turned Beiderwand with Karen Donde
Participants from Indiana, New York, Missouri, Georgia and Germany gathered on Zoom to work with Karen Donde from Asheville, NC to learn about Turned Beiderwand on 18-19th September 2021. Workshop participants learned that Turned Beiderwand is a type of double weave structure in which some “warp ends work as separate layers, others as tie-down ends” (Donde, 2017). Karen shared numerous images of her beautiful work using Turned Beiderwand, as well as historical examples.
