Announcing the 2018 Fall Workshop
Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild welcomes Susan Wilson for our Fall Workshop.
Polychrome Crackle: Color Kaleidoscope
Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 and an optional half day session on Monday, September 24.
Crackle is a versatile weave structure that is ideal for color exploration. In this 2-day workshop, you will sample a variety of polychrome treadlings on your own loom. Learn to design drafts, play with blocks, and manipulate colors for exciting results on just four shafts. Surprising effects result with just four shafts, but using more shafts adds a third structural element and even more color excitement to crackle.
For weavers who have taken her Classic Crackle & More workshop, this is an expansion on polychrome concepts from that class and beyond, focusing on independent design techniques and color experimentation.
For those who would like to continue exploration of crackle on more than four shafts, the workshop can be extended for a half day on Monday September 24. Much of this information on polychrome is new work not included in Susan’s book. Looms will not be needed for this additional session, but if your workshop loom has eight shafts, you may wish to put on extra warp and plan to re-thread to an 8-shaft crackle after the workshop for more sampling at home.
Workshop registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with non-Guild members welcome on a space-available basis. Non-member payments do not include membership in the guild.
Cancellation Policy: Registration for workshops is non-refundable. Please email the Workshop Chair if you find you are not able to attend and they will notify you of any persons on the wait-list who may be able to take over your registration.
After you register, you will be contacted to determine if you will use your own loom (table or portable floor looms not exceeding 26″) or if you would like to use a Guild loom. When available, information specific to the workshop will be sent to you.
Persons using Guild looms will have access to them in the week preceding and following the workshop. This will allow you to warp your loom and weave off your project.
