a message from our president
Welcome to Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild. Please explore our website to find out who we are and what programs we offer. We have a strong educational mission and offer a multitude of classes over fall, winter, spring and summer quarters. In addition we host regional, national, or international experts in weaving for workshops three times a year. This September will see Geri Forkner’s Nuno Felting for Weavers two-day workshop. Then Inge Dam will join us in January for a three-day exploration of how to incorporate Tablet Bands in Fabric. Robyn Spady returns to CHG in mid-April 2020 to present a two-day workshop titled: There are Two Sides to Every Cloth.
In 2020 we will sponsor a Members’ Show Exhibit. This is an opportunity for members to display their works and possibly win prizes. Typically there are awards for the different categories of Functional, Decorative, Accessories, & Wearables. Since 1992 we have given the Margaret Mott Award for an entrant who has never exhibited in a juried show or never won an award at a CHG members show. In addition the Georgia Cotton Commission has provided an award for best use of cotton.
Our meetings are open to visitors and we hope that you decide to drop in at one of them. Generally they are held on a third (3rd) Saturday of the month, but when workshops are scheduled, they occur on the Friday evening prior. Check our calendar to be sure.
