In this class, you will learn how to:

  • prep cellulose yarn for dyeing,
  • create warps that have regular color repeats,
  • create more painterly warps by using multiple smaller sections,
  • dye weft yarns that will pool; and
  • dye gradient skein to use for warping.

Note: pooling is not guaranteed, as it involves math and luck. You will also learn how to mix primary-colored dyes to create any color you want.

We will use warping mills, warping boards and a motorized skein winder in class on Saturday. Students can purchase yarn from the instructor or (if needed with advance notice) students can purchase pre-made warps or skeins.
