# 971W Natural Dyeing
Amazing colors can be harvested from nature. During this class, we will go over the basics of: harvesting dye material, prepping dye material, prepping your yarn, fiber, and or fabric to receive the dye material, the different methods of prep used on cellulose or protein based fibers, the modification of your naturally dyed fiber through the addition of iron or other modifier and finally the care of your final dyed project.
Yarn will be the largest portion of your supply fee. Each participant will receive 16 mini skeins of yarn (20 grams) which will allow them to mordant the yarns in both copper and alum, dye 4 of each mordant in 4 different colors and then to modify 2 in iron/acid/alkaline baths, giving each participant 16 different colors from 4 dyes baths.
