Study Groups

Study Groups are one of the benefits of membership in the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild.

Sewing Study Group

Our focus is on sewing with handwoven fabric, though it’s also okay to use commercial fabric. We will be using Daryl’s YouTube video tutorials for guidance, as needed. New members are always welcome! For more information, email sewing-study-group@chgweavers.org or president@chgweavers.org.

Tapestry Study Group (currently via Zoom)

In the CHG Tapestry Study Group we share tapestry design ideas, explore techniques, inspire and support each other in tapestry. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 10am-12pm.  For more information about the group please contact Jean Clark or Terri Bryson at tapestry@chgweavers.org.

 

Small Works Art Group (SWAG)

Do you crave spending time with fellow Guild members? Would you like to have a low key environment to ask questions and share knowledge? Then this is the group for you!  Meetings will be weekly, on Wednesday afternoons, from 2pm to 4pm, in room 202.  

Date of first meeting: Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Supplies & Equipment: Bring your own.
Types of projects: Your choice of any fiber related project that you want to work on that is small and doesn’t require a floor loom. This could include small looms, off loom weaving, spinning, finishing handwork on a larger project, etc.

Other things to know:

  • No instruction will be provided and there will be no specific topics planned. This is just an opportunity for sharing knowledge organically and for getting to know each other.
  • The weekly time is to allow for more opportunities to be together and to provide more time, in a relaxed setting, to interact with fellow guild members. This is something our monthly guild meetings cannot provide.
    Weekly reminders will not be sent out. Just put it on your calendar and come when you can.  But check the CHG Calendar before coming in as there will be occasions when we cannot meet, due to workshops, meetings, room maintenance, etc.
  • Everyone is responsible for taking care of the space and leaving it clean and ready to use by the next class, workshop, or group.
  • Bring your own supplies for whatever project you want to work on.
