Study Groups are one of the benefits of membership in the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild.
Tapestry Study Group (currently via Zoom)
In the CHG Tapestry Study Group we share tapestry design ideas, explore techniques, inspire and support each other in tapestry. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 10am-12pm. During the Coronovirus pandemic we are meeting via Zoom. For more information about the group please contact Jean Clark or Terri Bryson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Weaving Basics Study Group
The Weaving Basics Study Group intends to cover a variety of subjects in a step-by-step approach. The first thing to be studied is DRAFTING. The study group will use the book: The Complete Book of Drafting for Handweavers by Madelyn van der Hoogt. This group will meet on the third Thursday of each month from 7pm to approximately 9pm. Meetings will be conducted over the Guild Zoom account. For more information and to enroll in the study group, please contact Hazel Segall, email@example.com
Structures Study Group (currently via Zoom)
The Structures Study Group meets via Zoom on the second Tuesday of the month at 7pm. They will be using Heddlecraft magazine as a guide. Each monthly issue of Heddlecraft has been devoted to a particular structure or threading style in weaving. There are concise instructions and sample drafts in each issue. Members recommend an issue they would like to explore. Then four issues will be drawn from a hat and a schedule created. Individuals who recommended the structure will lead a discussion (teams are encouraged). For each structure selected we will devote 3 months for study and exploration. There will be multiple ways to explore these structures from weaving a set of samples or perhaps creating a gamp. Each member is responsible for ordering their own copies of issues from Heddlecraft if they do not already have a subscription. https://heddlecraft.com/single-issues.html
The Study Group organizer suggests that members make a donation of $10.00 donation to the guild to assist in defraying the expense of our Zoom license.
