Bio:

I’m a fiber artist and former art teacher and jeweler. Having explored many artistic mediums throughout my life, I found myself more drawn to fiber art and have dedicated my artistic endeavors to it for the last decade.

Artist Statement:

It started as a 2D tapestry weaving. But by the time I thought I was done with it, the weaving decided it needed to go in another direction. As I looked at the “finished” weaving hung on the wall, I realized there was another dimension to be explored. Sparked by some leftover PVC pipes and fittings I found in the garage—the tee, the elbow, the cross type, to name a few—and some repurposed fabric, I started to see the idea that was forming in my head. These new materials required me to learn unfamiliar techniques and stretch my skillset in ways I hadn’t explored before. Chair with Tutu is my contemporary 3D take on a traditionally 2D medium. To me, this transformation means taking a piece I created and turning it into something entirely different, finding new perspectives on traditional forms and growing as an artist along the way.
