Artist:
Leigh Lambert
Bio:
I am a fiber artist who looks for continual challenges with overlooked materials, waste, and elevating the ordinary.
Artist Statement:
The isolation of the pandemic refocused my work to embrace the copious plastic and cardboard being delivered to my house. I started wrapping plastic bags with embroidery floss and then applying it to various forms. I completely transform the bags to a new material. The process is very meditative and soothing, which also helped calm some of the noise in my head during uncertain times.
Techniques Used: I wrap plastic bags with embroidery floss. I then use this ""color cord"" as a material I attach to various surfaces.
Materials: Plastic bags, embroidery floss, recycled canvas, pool noodle, basket ball.
Measurements: 17" x 11" x 6"
