Artist Statement:
As a result of the isolation during the past few years, my work has become more introspective and intimate. I have become very resourceful scouring my studio to obtain materials, relying only on what I have on hand. My small tapestries incorporate a variety of wool yarns, embroidery thread and beads. I transform these materials to invoke a sense of place as I capture a moment in time. With travel restrictions in the recent years I have revisited some of my favorite trips via my tapestries. Transforming yarn and thread into a tapestry transports me on a magical journey. Transformation is change and how we adapt to change. I choose weaving as my vehicle to reflect my transformation.
